The aquifer that holds the water is located at a depth of some 70 metres, and is connected to the mountains of the Serra de la Verdera. It all started in the small, sleepy village of Vilajuïga. Ramon Margineda, seeing that the village mineral water was so well liked, decided to set up a company under the name, Aigües de Vilajuïga.
