In 1926, while searching for oil in the Styrian town of Radkersburg, a productive alkaline-earth acid was found. In 1961 this city spring was tapped for the first time and since 1970 the mineral water bottled there has been marketed under the name Long Life. In 1975 the spring was recognized as a medicinal spring.
