After the end of the last glacial period, around 11 000 years ago, the Champlain sea was covering part of Quebec and Ontario province. A few millenniums later, the Champlain Sea disappeared, leading to sediment deposits and minerals in the soil. As the water flows through the underground layers of rock to reach the spring, the water naturally collects minerals. One of the best pieces of evidence of this former sea is the vast clay plain deposited along the St. Lawrence River. This thick clay surface provides an excellent protection to spring, ensuring water remains pure and pristine.
