In 1927, in the heart of the Ruhr area - in Bochum - Willi Schäfer and his (later) wife established the company called Duke Mineral Fountain. In 1978, the Schäfers two sons, Fritz and Willi Schäfer, took over the management of the two divisions of production and wholesale. Since 1999, the business has continued to be run by two Schäfers - again by two sons of the family - Thomas and Ralf Schäfer. Today 14 wells are in operation within a radius of 3.5 km. Herzog Mineralbrunnen also sells the Engelbert and Coronet brands.
